Suiō-ryū is a 400-year-old Japanese martial tradition, one of the comprehensive and profound historical schools that preceded modern budo arts like kendo and iaido. Its spirit and techniques, including swordsmanship, staff, armed grappling, naginata etc., have been transmitted in an unbroken line from the founder to modern days.

Here in Turku, as a part of the Finnish branch, we strive to practise the swordsmanship and other weapon arts of the tradition in the same manner and with the same spirit as taught by the current head, 15th sōke Katsuse Yoshimitsu Kagehiro, at the Hekiunkan dōjō.

We do not offer separate beginners’ courses, so newcomers receive one-on-one instruction. If you are interested in observing or joining our practice, you can use the form below to contact us.
